Locally born defender who made his United debut at sixteen but walked away from football a few years later.
Roy Walker surprisingly drafted the virtually unknown Ahoghill native into the United first team as a 16-year-old for an end of season game against Donegal Celtic in April 2011. His late substitute appearance capped a superb season for the youngster as he had been playing the majority of his football with Melvyn Logan's third string in the IFA Youth League that season.
It was Reid's only appearance for the Sky Blues despite impressing for the Reserves the following season (2011/2012) and new first-team manager Glenn Ferguson bringing the defender into the first team panel for the 2012/2013 after being a regular in pre-season during the summer of 2012. It made it even more surprising that David walked away from senior football a few months into the 2012/2013 campaign with his career path clearly mapped out for him.
It would be a few years later that Reid would re-appear in senior football with Championship 2 side Glebe Rangers.
