Debut
August 20th, 1932
Newry Town (City) 3 - 5 Ballymena United
League (Irish League)
Timeline
-
Right at the start of their fifth season Ballymena have made history by winning their first fixture, a feat which they never before accomplished either at home or away. It was an auspicious beginning for a team which had to travel to Newry Town for their first match, and seems to augur well for the future.
-
Two costly mistakes by Ballymena paved the way for Linfield to enter the final of the Gold Cup in the semi-final replay at Grosvenor Park last Wednesday, the day on which the Prince of Wales opened the new Parliament Buildings.
-
A goal scored by McPherson six minutes from time decided the destination of the points in the match between Ballymena and Glenavon at the Showgrounds before the smallest Easter Monday crowd yet seen there.
-
Ballymena would up the season last Saturday with a visit to Celtic Park, where Celtic defeated by four goals to two.
