Biography

Local lad who had three spells in a four year period at the Showgrounds, having initially joined on loan from Swindon Town in September 1999.

Starring at Ballee High School and for Cullybackey Blues, Ricky won international honours for his country at Under-15, Under-16 and eventually Under-18 level which earned him a move 'across the water' to an apprenticeship at Swindon Town, having impressed in the UEFA Under-16 Euros in Germany in 1997.

Despite not breaking through into the first team at the Wiltshire club, his debut for the reserves was notable as he got sent-off for an altercation with notorious hard-man turned actor, Vinnie Jones.

In September 1999, Ricky took the option of a loan spell for first team experience at his hometown club under Nigel Best. Ricky made 11 appearances during a two month stint at the Showgrounds.
