Match Report

A GOAL three minutes from time was enough to earn Loughgall an historic first Premier League win as they finally took their place among the elite of local football.

Hero of the hour was substitute Alastair Wilson who collected a cross from right, held off the challenge of Gary Smyth and despatched an unstoppable shot past United keeper Robert Robinson.

It was perhaps rough justice on the Sky Blues but their failure to convert a string of chances eventually came back to haunt them.

In the opening exchanges Shea Campbell hesitated in front of goal when a touch more decisiveness might have paid dividends while later in the half he needed an extra touch to control a Mark Hughes cross and with it the chance had gone.

Soon after the break Joe Gray darted clear of the home defence but met his match in Marc Robinson. Then, just after the hour, Rory Hamill managed to take the ball past the keeper and defender Paul Harbinson only for Robinson to recover to stop the effort on the line.

Hamill also hit the side netting in the final 15 minutes while Robinson pulled off another save, this time from Hughes.

Then Wilson took matters into his own hands ............
