Match Report

Glenavon stretched their current unbeaten run to seven games with victory over Ballymena United at Mourneview Park.

The visitors might have taken an early lead through Sean Graham who made the most of a defensive error only to send a curling effort back off the crossbar.

But it fell to Glenavon to move in front after 20 minutes courtesy of the on form Matthew Fitzpatrick who finished easily after Jack Malone's initial effort had been pushed out by Jordan Williamson.

Ballymena hit the woodwork for a second time after half-hour with Kenny Kane's striking an upright, while a similar fate befell another Malone attempt moments from the break.

Glenavon doubled their advantage with Fitzpatrick's second of the night not long after the interval with a driven finish from a loose ball before, five minutes after that, Mikey Place pulled one back for the visitors from the spot after Aaron Rogers had handled a Kane effort.

Malone restored Glenavon's two-goal cushion with around a quarter-of-an-hour remaining with the second penalty of the evening awarded for a Dougie Wilson challenge on Isaac Baird.

United grabbed a second consolation deep into stoppage time when, from a Ross Redman corner, Craig Farquhar headed home.
