Match Report

BALLYMENA United put on an improved defensive display against league leaders Crusaders at the Showgrounds, but ended up on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline.

Tim Allen was called into action early in the game as Paul Heatley sent a volley towards the goal and the keeper had to palm it away for corner.

Allan Jenkins grabbed the first goal of the game, against the run of play, as his shot was deflected into the net after a corner.

Crusaders still had more possession after the goal and Paul Heatley scored the equaliser after a Jordan Owens cross.

Crusaders started the second half as they finished the first half, attacking the United goal, as a Jordan Owens shot was blocked.

United forced their way into a game as Crusaders appeared to lose their flow, a free kick being cleared to Tony Kane who shot over the bar.
Crusaders went ahead in the 67th minute after Tim Allen dropped the ball under a Jordan Owens challenge and Timmy Adamson pounced to put the ball into the net.

The Crues had the final say in the matter as Jordan Owens headed past Allen in the 81st minute to seal the three points.
