Institute came back down to earth with a bump in this evening's CIS Insurance Cup clash with Ballymena United at The Showgrounds.
Following their weekend win over Linfield Paul Kee's side went into the game as hot favourites but the Sky Blues upset the odds to emerge comfortable 5-1 winners to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
Ballymena opened the scoring after 26 minutes when Nigel Boyd got on the end of a Shea Campbell through ball to fire past 'Stute keeper John Connolly.
Then, nine minutes later, Campbell made it 2-0 with a lob over Ray McGuinness with Connolly stranded on the edge of the area.
United moved further in front six minutes after the break when a corner from left was flicked on by 'Stute defender Thomas Wray although Sky Blues skipper Alfie Stewart may have got the final touch.
Institute pulled a goal back on 61 minutes when Ray McGuinness converted a penalty although United soon restored their three-goal advantage when Gareth McLaughlin slotted home a Boyd pass.
The scoring was complete on 80 minutes when Conor Gregg capitalised on indecision in the Stute defence to beat Connolly.
