INSTITUTE be wondering how they didn't collect all three points from CIS Insurance Cup clash at the Riverside after creating the majority of chances for the second successive game against Ballymena United.

United ran out 3-0 winners at The Showgrounds a couple of weeks ago, a defeat 'Stute were determined to avenge but poor finishing once again let them down.

On ten minutes Ivan Sproule fired over when well placed after being played through by Marty McCann while soon after he had a volley kept out by United keeper Robert Robinson.

Paul McLaughlin then fired wide on 20 minutes from just inside the area but it was the visitors who broke the deadlock when Rory Hamill headed home a Tim McCann cross three minutes later for his fourth goal of the season.

However 'Stute grabbed a deserved equaliser right on the stroke of half-time through David Ogilby who volleyed a Ryan Semple cross beyond Robinson.

Shea Campbell might have restored Ballymena's lead on 67 minutes only to head wide from a Nigel Boyd cross.

Then, ten minutes from time, McLaughlin came within a whisker of grabbing the home winner only to be denied by a superb triple stop from Robinson.
