UNITED had to come from behind to take this game into extra-time, but scored 3 goals in 4 minutes to secure a berth in the JBE League Cup third round draw.

United had the better start to this game, Eoin Kane with a good strike which was easily gathered and Allan Jenkins in a one-on-one with Moyola keeper Marcin Farniok which he got down well to deal with, the rebound hitting Jenkins and going out for a goal kick.

Darren Henderson had a great chance half way through the first half, but Farniok pulled out an excellent save to prevent a certain goal. Shortly afterwards Jenkins had a header saved and from the corner Rodger headed from the back post but the ball went over the bar.

It was Moyola who took the lead in the opening stages of the second half as Dwayne Nelson saved a spot kick by Chris Dowie, but he couldn't do anything about his rebounded effort.

United had a series of corners, all of which came to nothing, then in the 62nd minute Darren Henderson hit the crossbar from a header. With 20 minutes left on the clock the Braidmen went close, having a chance cleared of the line as they stepped up a gear after bringing Matthew Shevlin on for Matthew Tipton.

The breakthrough finally came with just over a quarter of an hour of normal time left as David Cushley put the ball THROUGH the net past Farniok. In the 90th minute in-form Moyola keeper Farniok made a fantastic double save and Johnny Taylor fired a header over the bar, taking the game into extra-time.

It was a very quiet first period of extra-time until the last few minutes when Shevlin chipped the Moyola keeper to put United ahead, Eoin Kane extended the lead, then Shevlin struck again to give the Sky Blues a bit of breathing space.

Nothing of note happened in the second period of extra-time, as Ballymena ended victors and are through to the next round.
