ARDS picked up their first win of the campaign with a relatively untroubled defeat of Ballymena United at Dixon Park.
They deservedly moved in front after 32 minutes through Ben Roy when, from just inside the box, he rifled a right-foot shot past the outstretched Dwayne Nelson into the top corner.
Moments before that, at the other end, Alan Teggart took the ball past two Ards defenders before crossing for Neal Gawley who just failed to connect when the slightest of touches would have turned the ball home.
Paul McDowell might have doubled the lead for Niall Currie's side seven minutes from the break only for the ball to flash over the crossbar.
United really should have levelled midway through the first half when Shane Dolan flicked the ball on for Alan Davidson but he could only fire weakly straight at 'keeper Graeme McKibbin.
Ards extended their advantage with 11 minutes remaining when William Faulkner sent a right-foot cross/shot into the far corner.
