Crusaders and Ballymena United shared four goals in this ultimately entertaining Wednesday night encounter at Seaview.

The first half was a largely unproductive, uninspiring affair with a somewhat ambitious David Cushley overhead kick perhaps being the highlight while, best for the Crues, was a Jordan Owens header straight at Dwayne Nelson from a Stephen Cockcroft cross.

But Owens was to break the deadlock seven minutes after the break with another header, again from a Cockcroft delivery.

However, Ballymena levelled nine minutes later when Gavin Taggart smashed a dipping volley from the edge of the box into the top corner.

The visitors almost moved in front on 69 minutes when, from a Neal Gawley free-kick, Matt Tipton directed a header onto the post before Sean O'Neill did well to clear the loose ball.

The Sky Blues did grab the lead on 82 minutes when Johnny Taylor headed home a Gawley corner - but they had to settle with a share of the spoils after Timmy Adamson turned home a Gary McCutcheon corner at the far post just a couple of minutes after that.
